NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Marietta College women's tennis team notched its first win of the spring Wednesday (April 25) afternoon at Muskingum University. The Pioneers posted a 6-3 non-conference victory over the Fighting Muskies to improve to 1-10 on the season. Muskingum falls to 4-9 overall. [

The Muskies took two out of three doubles matches to take the early lead. Marietta fought back to win five of the six singles match-ups en route to the overall team victory.

Natalie Turner (Marysville/Marysville)# and #
Sarah Snow (Twentynine Palms, Calif./29 Palms)# took down Allison Thomas and Renee Staudt at No. 2, 8-6.
Marietta received straight-set wins at Nos. 1,2 and 5 singles. Cornell was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at No. 1 against Thomas, while Gisser beat Mueller at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-1. At No. 5, Snow took down Sarver, 6-4 and 6-1.
Bush and Turner both split sets with their opponents and went on to win their respective matches. Bush beat Staudt at No. 4 by the scores of 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). Turner defeated Nelson 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 6.
Muskingum picked up its third team point at No. 3 singles. Harrison defeated #Kelsey Jeffrey# 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).
The Pioneers are right back on the court tomorrow (April 26) when they host John Carroll University at 3 p.m.
