Marietta track and field competes at OAC Gold Meet

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Marietta College produced four individual champions to highlight its performance at the Ohio Athletic Conference Gold Track and Field Meet Saturday (April 2) on the campus of the University of Mount Union. [Results]

While not at full strength, the Pioneer women finished in fourth place with 64 points, while the men compiled 69.5 points to place fifth among the eastern Ohio schools.

Freshman Jason Hoskins (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) won the high jump by clearing 1.93m (6-04.00). Sophomore Caleb Muller (Columbus/Bexley) placed first in the 5,000m run after crossing the line in 15:10.94. Junior Kim Keesler (Chagrin Falls/Chagrin Falls) captured the long jump with a leap of 4.91m (16-01.50). Freshman Megan Brooks (Proctorville/Fairland) won the pole vault with a mark of 3.25m (10-08.00).

The Pioneers also had eight more top three finishes. They included junior Jessica Gebhart (Eaton/Eaton) in the 100m hurdles (2nd/16.52), freshman Amy Kauffman (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) in the 800m run (3rd/2:28.15), senior Reba Leonard (Brookville/Brookville) in the 5,000m run (2nd/18:51.10), freshman Ryan Lopez-Jordan (Beachwood/St. Peter Chanel) in the 110m high hurdles (3rd/16.17), freshman Jon Monnig (Ironton/Ironton) in the pole vault (3rd/4.13m), junior Mike Pankowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) in the javelin throw (3rd/48.00m), sophomore Gaston Hayes (Cleveland/Rhodes) in the discus throw (2nd/47.54m) and junior Chase Oberfield (Heath/Heath), sophomore Bryn Perkey (Middlebourne, W.Va./Tyler Consolidated), senior Kent Reiber (Avon Lake/Avon Lake) and sophomore Brandon Siringer (Willowick/Eastlake North) in the 4x800m Relay (3rd/8:42.07).

Marietta is back in action Friday (April 8) when it hosts the Don Frail Invitational at Don Drumm Stadium.
