Capital edges men's tennis 5-4

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Marietta College men's tennis dropped a 5-4 Ohio Athletic Conference decision to host Capital University Wednesday (April 13) afternoon. [Box Score]

With the loss, The Pioneers fell to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. The Crusaders improved to 1-6 and are now tied at 1-3 in the league standings.

Capital took control of the match by winning the top two doubles matches. Ryan Wong (Granville/Granville) and Taimur Ahmed (Islamabad, Pakistan/Froebels International) earned a point for Marietta with an 8-1 win at third doubles.

The Pioneers and Crusaders then split the six singles points. Capital won the top three matches, while Marietta captured points in the bottom three. Dave Koscielny (Belleville, Mich./Plymouth Christian) won 6-1, 6-4 at fourth singles, Wong won 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles and Ahmed won 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 at sixth singles.
