ALLIANCE, Ohio — A pair of Marietta College high jumpers participated in the University of Mount Union Last Chance Track and Field Meet Saturday (March 5) afternoon in a final attempt to either qualify for or improve their standing on the national qualifying list for the March 11-12 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship at Capital University. Junior Ashley Bault (Atwater/Waterloo), who has already provisionally qualified in the high jump (1.66m), long jump (5.55m) and pentathlon (3,260 points), competed in both the high jump and shot put Saturday. Bault finished second in the high jump after clearing 1.58m (5-02.25) and took ninth in the shot put with a mark of 8.96m (29-04.75).

Freshman Jason Hoskins (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) needed a season-best effort at the competition to earn a spot on the national qualifying list and came just shy by finishing with a mark of 1.95m (6-04.75), which placed him second.

Bault will now await word on whether or not she receives an invite to the national championship in any or all three of her events. That announcement will take place early next week.
