Bault provisionally qualifies in High Jump at OAC Relays

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Junior Ashley Bault (Atwater/Waterloo) set a school record and hit a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the High Jump to highlight Marietta College track and field's performance at the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays Saturday (Jan. 29) on the campus of Capital University. Marietta's women finished the event with 60 points to place fourth, while the Pioneer men tied for fifth place with 54 points. Baldwin-Wallace swept the competition after its women collected 104.5 points and its men totaled 90 points. The OAC Relays use the combination of a school's top two finishes in individual events to determine the amount of points awarded. Therefore, depth has a lot to do with the success of a team at this meet.

Bault, whose performance earlier this season already gave her a share of the High Jump record, took first place after clearing 1.66m (5-05.25). The mark surpassed her previous best by two inches and helped her become the first Marietta student-athlete to reach a NCAA Championship standard in 2011. Bault also won the Triple Jump with a season-best mark of 10.77m (35-04.00) and took runner-up in the Long Jump with a season-best leap of 5.33m (17-06.00).

In men's action, sophomore Caleb Muller (Columbus/Bexley) captured first place in the 5,000m Run by crossing the line in season-best time of 15:28.69. Junior Ryan Householder (Frazeysburg/Tri-Valley) ran a season-best 6.61 seconds to place third in the 55m Dash. Junior Terrance Wallace (Westerville/Westerville Central) placed fifth in the 3,000m Run after running a personal record 9:06.45. Freshman Jason Hoskins (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) finished in a tie for third in the High Jump after clearing 1.92m (6-03.50). In addition, Householder, junior #Billy McCulloch, senior Dele Adedapo (Gahanna/Bexley) and freshman #Brandon Harrison helped Marietta's 4x200m Relay place second Saturday with a season-best time of 1:32.71.

Marietta is back in action Friday (Feb. 4) afternoon when it helps kick off Winter Weekend with the Marietta Alumni Open inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center at 2 p.m.
