Men's tennis sweep Central State 9-0

WILBERFORCE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's tennis team improved its record to 4-2 with a 9-0 sweep of non-conference host Central State University Sunday (April 11) afternoon. [Box Score]

Sophomore Josh Patterson (Jefferson, Jefferson) and senior Andrew Bolton (Timonium, Md., Calvert Hall) won 8-0 and first doubles, while junior Ryan Wong (Granville, Granville) and junior Mike Carpenter (Parkersburg, W.Va., Parkersburg) did the same at second doubles. Junior Dave Koscielny (Belleville, Mich., Plymouth Christian) and junior Will Jaques (South Yarmouth, Mass., Chatham) earned the third point with an 8-1 win at third doubles.

Patterson then won 8-1 at first singles, and Wong earned a point with his 8-6 victory at second singles. Bolton, Carpenter, Koscielny and freshman Abdul Sheikh (Columbus, Saint Johnsbury Acad.) won 8-0 at third through sixth singles, respectively.

Marietta is back in action Tuesday (April 13) when Capital University visits for an Ohio Athletic Conference match at 3:30 p.m.
