HIRAM, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball snapped its season-opening, five-match win streak with a 3-0 loss to Walsh University Friday (Sept. 11) evening at the Hiram College Tournament. The Cavaliers won 25-20, 25-22, 25-12.
Marietta (5-1) was paced offensively by sophomore outside hitter
Alex Weissling (Dublin, Dublin Scioto) with seven kills and sophomore right side hitter
Meredith Storey (Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Falls) with six kills. Freshman setter
Ally Jenkins (Twinsburg, Walsh Jesuit) dished out 19 assists, while senior libero
Becca Holzworth (North Olmsted, North Olmsted) added two service aces.
Defensively, Holzworth collected a team-best 14 digs, while Jenkins had 12 digs. Im addition, freshman middle blocker Sarah Campbell (Twinsburg, Twinsburg) contributed three total blocks, while Storey added two in the match.
Marietta returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 12) when it takes on host Hiram at 12 p.m. and then Rochester at 4 p.m.
