SWARTHMORE, Pa. — Marietta College freshman sprinter
Brittany Sims (Columbus/Eastmoor Academy) ran a provisional qualifying time in the 400m Hurdles at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet Monday (May 11) evening. Sims became the sixth individual to qualify for the
2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will take place May 21-23 in Marietta, Ohio.
Sims, the school record holder in the 100m Dash, added the 400m Hurdle record to her resume on Monday after crossing the line in 1:03.93. Her time was just under the provisional qualifying mark of 1:04.00. Sims finished third in the race.
Head Coach Derek Stanley's squad has now had a student-athlete qualify in seven different individual events as well as one relay.
The Pioneers will have one final opportunity to either qualify or improve their qualification mark before the championship field is announced on Sunday (May 17). Marietta will participate in the North Central (Iowa) Last Chance Meet on Thursday (May 15) and Friday (May 16).
