Football junior defensive end Nick Thompson (Lancaster/Lancaster) was named the OAC Football Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Pioneers to a 29-11 season opening win at Kenyon. Thompson recorded six solo tackles, four of which were behind the line of scrimmage, including three quarterback sacks. The Pioneers scored 29 unanswered points to come from behind and defeat the Lords. Marietta limited Kenyon to just two first downs and 29 total yards of offense in the second half.
