Sophomore Matthew Clair and the rest of the men’s lightweight 4+ shell won the gold medal at the 2012 Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. The Pioneers completed the 2,000-meter Melton Hill Lake course in 6:48.80 ahead of Washington University and the University of Virginia. Washington crossed in 6:53.43 and Virginia finished with a time of 6:54.04. The rest of the crew included Ethan Shoemaker in the stroke seat, Matt Newsome, Drew Schulte and Connor Walters in the bow.
