DOVER, Ohio — The Marietta College men's golf team opened its fall competition season Saturday (Sept. 5) afternoon at the Wooster Gatorade Collegiate. The Pioneers are in fourth place after the first of two rounds on the par-72 Zoar Village Golf Course.
Mount Aloysius is the leader after the first round with a 4-under-par score of 284. Wooster is two shots back at 286, followed by Saint Vincent (291), Marietta (294), Wooster B (297), Capital (298), John Carroll (298), Mount Union (298), Ursuline (298), Mount Aloysius B (299), Kent State Tuscarawas (308), and Hiram (319).
Saint Vincent's Owen Dzurko carded a 4-under-par, 68, and is the leader in the clubhouse. There is a three-way tie for second at 2-under between Marietta's
Zach Huscusson (Clinton, Ohio/Northwest), Mount Aloysius B's Michael Sevier, and Wooster's Rafa Tanjung.
Marietta's lineup included
Aidan Houghton (Tolland, Conn./Tolland), who fired a 73 and is tied for 18th place.
Jeremiah Fizer (Chesapeake, Ohio/Fairland) recorded a round of 75, while teammate
Carson Moore (Belpre, Ohio/Belpre) was one stroke behind at 76.
Kelson McCurdy (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) rounded out MC's lineup and shot a 79 in the first round.
The tournament concludes with a round on Sunday (Sept. 6). Marietta tees of at 12:50 p.m.
