MARIETTA, Ohio — After a brief stint as the program's assistant coach, Marietta College has decided to name Nathan Grover as its next head men's lacrosse coach.
"Nathan worked exceptionally hard and efficiently during the brief time that he was our assistant coach," said Marietta College Athletic Director Larry Hiser. "During that time, it became clear to me that he was ready to step in and lead this program that he helped build. He has communicated effectively with the returning players, the new players, and our recruiting list, working many nights late into the evening."
Grover, a former All-Ohio Athletic Conference face-off specialist for the Pioneers, now becomes the third head coach in the history of the program.
"I knew him as a player and one of the best face-off men in the OAC," continued Hiser. "I didn't really get to know him as a person. Now that I do, I am really excited for the future of our team under his leadership. He was a leader who instilled our hard-working culture as a player, and he will continue that as our head coach."
Grover returns to Marietta after two seasons as the assistant coach at Malone University. Those Pioneers won five games last spring in just the program's third year in existence. In 2024, Grover helped lead Malone to eight wins and an appearance in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
Grover also has three years of experience coaching with the Burning River Travel Lacrosse team, headquartered in Broadview Heights, Ohio. In addition, he assisted with the boy's lacrosse team at his high school alma mater, North Canton Hoover.
Grover was a four-year letterman for the Pioneers as a face-off specialist. He was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference three times, including a first-team selection his junior year. He led the OAC with 203 face-offs won, breaking his single season record set the year prior.
"I am extremely honored and excited to be able to come back to Marietta and lead the men's lacrosse team," said Grover. "Marietta is such a special place, and I am extremely thankful for the support of the administration and community. I am excited to continue to build on the success this of this program and push Marietta Lacrosse to new heights!"
A native of North Canton, Ohio, Grover graduated from Marietta with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management in May of 2023. He completed his MBA from Malone University in 2025.
