PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's golf team won the Ohio Northern Jimmy Hanlin Collegiate Invitational Monday (April 7) afternoon. The Pioneers finished first out of nine teams in the 36-hole tournament.
The first round of the Invitational was played at StoneWater Golf Club on their par-71, 6674-yard course. The second round was contested on the par-70, 6623-yard course at Little Mountain Golf Club.
Marietta won the team title with a two-day score of 596. Capital finished second with a score of 604, followed by Ohio Northern (605), Westminster (613), Wooster (620), Ohio Northern B (630), Wooster B (633), Hiram (647), and Baldwin Wallace (650).
There was a three-way tie atop the leaderboard with Capital's Keegan Billingham, ONU's Ian Briars, and Marietta's
Andrew Korner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley). All carded a 4-over-par 147. Billingham claimed medalist honors on the first playoff hole as the snow was falling on the course.
Zach Huscusson (Clinton, Ohio/Northwest) tied for fourth with a two-day score of 148.
Jaekob Conard (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison Comprehensive) tied for eighth place with a two-round score of 152.
Kelson McCurdy (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) carded a 154 to finish tied for 11th, while
Mason Reville (Northfield, Ohio/Nordonia) tied for 20th with a score of 156.
The Pioneers had one player compete as an individual.
Hunter Wilson (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area) fired a 148 and finished tied for fourth.
Marietta is back in action this Thursday (April 10) at the OAC Spring Preview at River Greens Golf Course.
