WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Marietta College goalie
Abby May (Randolph, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Monday (Apr. 28) afternoon by the league office. This is the fourth time May earned this award for her career.
May played well in the season finale against Otterbein University. The Pioneers had the possible playoff tie breaking scenario of having to not only beat the Cardinals, but having to outscore them by four goals. May did her part and was a driving force in that game, making 13 saves in Marietta's 17-6 victory. She had the tough assignment of facing Capital University in the OAC quarterfinals but still registered nine saves in a season-ending 19-7 loss to the high-powered Comets.
May finished her Pioneer career as the program leader in saves (525) and victories (21). The Pioneers finished with a 5-12 record and a third career appearance in the OAC playoffs.
