Women’s Lacrosse closes regular season with a loss to Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Marietta College women's lacrosse team finished the 2026 season with a loss to the University of Mount Union, 22-2, on Wednesday (April 26) evening.

"Not the ending we envisioned but this season was one for the books," said Head Coach Lindsay Reho. "We were able to increase our win total and conference standing from last year and saw increased production and contribution from every single player on the roster."

Both teams had opportunities in the opening minutes of the first period, but Marietta broke through first.  With a one-player advantage, Mallory Wiles (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) cut through and scored a goal from an assist from Fiona Betzhold to give the Pioneers an early lead.  Mount Union answered moments later as Ella Nejad tied it with a score.  Emma Kielbasa and Mae Pawilkowski added scores in rapid succession to give the Purple Raiders the lead.  Mount Union scored twice more before Marietta could find the nets.  Molly Dickens (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) added a score off an assist from Renee Mulvaney (Midland, Mich./Midland) in the final two minutes and the Pioneers trailed 6-2 heading into the second period.  Unfortunately for Pioneers, they were held scoreless in the second period, but Mount Union added eights scores and led 14-2 at the half.

The Pioneers fell further behind as they gave up five third quarters scores and failed to get on the board in the second half. The Purple Raider would cruise to a 22-2 OAC victory.

With the loss the Pioneers finish at 7-8 overall, 2-4 in Ohio Athletic Conference play. With the win the Purple Raiders clinch the top spot in the OAC, finishing at 6-0 in the OAC and 10-5 overall.

"The class of 2026 has left a mark on this program that will last for years to come," concluded Reho. "The heart this class has poured into this program has redefined what it means to be a member of this team and apart of this program. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for me through my coaching journey and this program."
