BEREA, Ohio — Marietta College concluded competition in the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday (May 6) afternoon at Finnie Stadium on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University.
Mount Union swept both the men's and women's team titles, while John Carroll finished second in both standings. Marietta's women placed seventh and the men tied for ninth.
Mount Union amassed 258 points to win the women's championship. John Carroll finished with 198.5 points, followed by Ohio Northern (105.5), Baldwin Wallace (80.5), Wilmington (60), Otterbein (55), Marietta (26), Heidelberg (19), Capital (11), and Muskingum (3.5).
On the men's side, Mount Union finished with 223 points, followed by John Carroll (221), Wilmington (111), Ohio Northern (100), Otterbein (83), Capital (26), Baldwin Wallace (24), Muskingum (12), Heidelberg (7), and Marietta (7).
The Pioneers had two athletes earn All-OAC honors. Senior
Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) placed second in the shot put with a toss of 11.85-meters (38' 10.5"). Junior
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) earned all-conference honors with a third place showing in the hammer throw. Huffman recorded a distance of 45.19-meters.
Priest turned in a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.81-meters (137' 2"). Freshman
Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) accounted for Marietta's final three team points with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump. Fehrman's best leap covered 10.04-meters (32' 11.25").
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) added to the team points for the Pioneer men with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump. Painter recorded a jump of 12.61-meters (41' 4.5").
The Pioneers will return to Baldwin Wallace on Friday (May 13) for the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet. Events start at 2:00 p.m.
