Annie Priest leads Pioneers at Mount St. Joseph Invite

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College competed in the Mount St. Joseph University Invitational Track Meet Saturday (April 23) afternoon. The Pioneer men finished fourth and the women finished third in the team standings.

Wilmington won the men's title with 110 points. Thomas More was second with 81 points, followed by Mount St. Joseph (38), Marietta (32), Northern Kentucky (10), Georgetown (Ky.) (6), and Earlham (3).

Wilmington and Thomas More finished first and second in the women's standings too with 91.5 and 58 points, respectively. Marietta (53) was third, followed by Georgetown (Ky.) (29.5), Mount St. Joseph (19), Northern Kentucky (11), and Earlham (4).

Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) set the Marietta outdoor record in the shot put with a winning throw of 13.78 meters. The old mark was 13.33 meters by Kasey Neville (Belington, W.Va./Philip Barbour) in 2019. Priest's mark is the eighth best in Division III this spring.

Priest also posted a pair of third place finishes in the discus and hammer throws. She had a mark of 35.48 meters in the discus and 44.93 meters in the hammer throw.

Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) won the hammer throw with a distance of 48.64 meters. She second in the discus (36.76m) and third in the shot put (10.82m)

Savannah Flusche (Blacklick, Ohio/) set new personal records in the shot with a fourth-place distance of 10.03 meters and in the discus with a fifth-place mark of 33.51 meters.

Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) scored in three events including third place in the triple jump (9.64m), fourth place in the 100-meter dash (14.02 seconds), and fifth place in the long jump (4.69m).

Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) led the women runners with a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run finishing in 21:30.44. She also set a personal record in the 1,500-meter run with a fifth-place time of 5:29.58.

Cali Barnes-Pierotti (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:25.57. She placed fourth in the triple jump with a personal best distance of 9.51 meters.

Marietta's other points came in the javelin throw where Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) won with a throw of 30.87 meters. Elizabeth Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) placed third with a personal record mark of 27.15 meters.

Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) led the Pioneer men scoring in four different events. Painter won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.20 seconds. In the field events, he placed second in the long jump (6.34m) and second in the triple jump (12.81m). He also placed fifth in the javelin with a personal record throw of 46.38 meters.

Dominick Glenn (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) finished second in the 200-meter dash with a personal record time of 23.39 seconds. He also placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.56 seconds.

Marietta's other team points came in the 400 meter dash. Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) placed fourth with a time of 52.49 seconds, while Zack Riffle finished sixth with a time of 56.74 seconds.

Marietta travels to Ashland University next Saturday (April 30).
