Track competes at the Tiffleberg Open

TIFFIN, Ohio — The Marietta College track and field team competed at the Tiffleberg Open Saturday (April 2) co-hosted by Heidelberg University and Tiffin University. Several Pioneers won events at the unscored meet.
 
"I'm pretty happy with how today went. We won some events and made the finals in several others," Marietta head coach Jason Davis said."Brooke (Huffman) did some big things today in the hammer throw."
 
Huffman competed in four events winning the hammer throw with a personal best distance of 46.76-meters. She turned in a pair of second place finishes in the discus (39.17m) and javelin (24.36m). Huffman also posted a sixth place showing in the shot put with a heave of 10.66-meters.
 
Two other Pioneer women won events. Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) won the triple jump with a distance of 10.01-meters, while Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) won the javelin throw with a mark of 31.11-meters. Fehrman also placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 4.61-meters.
 
Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) had two top-five finishes placing fourth in the discus (32.04m) and fifth in the hammer throw (38.95m).
 
Cali Barnes-Pierotti (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) took third in the triple jump with a distance of 8.96-meters. She also placed eighth in the high jump clearing 1.39-meters.
 
Alex Shreckengost set a new personal best in the javelin with a throw of 23.19-meters, good for third place. Ciara Space () earned a fifth-place finish in the 1500-meter run finishing with a time of 5:07.37, a new person best.
 
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) led the Pioneer men with three top-three finishes. Painter took second in the javelin throw with a mark of 44.32-meters. He was third in the 110-meter hurdles crossing the line in 16.31 seconds and third in triple jump with a distance of 12.25-meters.
 
Two other Pioneers turned in fourth place performances. Luke Watt (Rayland, Ohio/St. Clairsville) cleared a personal best height of 4.25-meters in the pole vault, while Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) ran the 400-meter dash in 52.39 seconds.
 
Marietta travels to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday (April 9) for the Marv Frye Invitational. Events start at 9:00 a.m.
