Huffman and Painter lead Track and Field at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio — Marietta College competed in the All-Ohio Division III Track Championship Saturday (April 16) on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The Pioneer women finished ninth as a team, while the men placed 13th.
 
Denison won the men's team title with 111.5 points. Case Western Reserve finished second with 111 points, followed by Ohio Northern (80 points), Ohio Wesleyan (76), Wooster (76), Wittenberg (72), Oberlin (56.5), Bluffton (53), Muskingum (43), Kenyon (34), Defiance (25), Mount St. Joseph (24), and Marietta (17).
 
Case Western Reserve posted 132 points to win the women's team title. Ohio Wesleyan was second with 125 points, followed by Wooster (113.5), Oberlin (111), Denison (74), Wittenberg (70.5), Ohio Northern (47), Kenyon (34), Marietta (29), Defiance (16), Otterbein (10), Mount St. Joseph (8), Bluffton (5), and Muskingum (1).
 
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) led the Pioneers women with a win in the discus throw. Huffman recorded a distance of 38.06 meters (124' 10") to earn 10 team points. She also earned one point with an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw recording a mark of 43.93 meters (144' 1").
 
Ciara Space () set a personal record in the 10,000-meter run earning a second-place finish with a time of 40:42.17. Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) placed fourth in the javelin earning five team points with a throw of 28.44 meters (93' 4"). Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) earned five points with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw. Priest set a new personal best with a distance of 45.94 meters (150' 9").
 
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) accounted for 14 of the men's 17 points in the meet. Painter finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.02 meters (42' 8.75"). He also placed third in the 110-meter hurdles crossing the line in a personal record time of 15.59 seconds.
 
Jake Preist earned the Pioneer's other three team points with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.71 meters (143' 5").
 
Marietta will compete in the Mount St. Joseph Invitational next Saturday (April 23). Events start at 12:00 p.m.
