Track and Field competes in the Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Marietta College track team competed in the Ohio Wesleyan Marv Frye Invitational Saturday (April 9). The Pioneer women placed seventh overall, while the men place 11th.
 
Albion won the men's team trophy with 142 points, followed by Calvin (127.50), Wilmington (111), Denison (105), Bluffton (51), Ohio Wesleyan (40), Kenyon (33), Muskingum 27), Baldwin Wallace (23), Mount St. Joseph (22), Marietta (19.5), Heidelberg (15), Capital (11) and Ohio Christian (0).
 
On the women's side, Ohio Wesleyan took first with 124 points, followed by Albion (120), Calvin (97), Wilmington (79.5), Denison (62), Baldwin Wallace (62), Marietta (46.5), Kenyon (28), Capital (15), Heidelberg (15), Muskingum (13), Mount St. Joseph (10), Bluffton (5) and Ohio Christian (3).
 
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) led the Pioneer men claiming 15 team points. Painter placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 15.86 seconds. He notched a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 12.49 meters (40' 11.75"). Painter added a seventh place showing in the long jump with a leap of 5.92 meters (19' 5.25").
 
Marietta's other team points came from Luke Watt (Rayland, Ohio/St. Clairsville) in the pole vault. Watt cleared 4.0 meters (13' 1.5") earning a fourth-place finish.
 
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) led the Marietta women. She claimed one of the Pioneers' two event wins taking first place in the discus throw with a mark of 36.83 meters (120' 10"). Huffman also placed fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 45.48 meters (149' 2").
 
Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) won the women's javelin throw with a distance of 29.84 meters (97' 11"). Elizabeth Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 22.93 meters (75' 3").
 
In addition to Huffman's win in the discus, Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) placed sixth and Savannah Flusche (Blacklick, Ohio/) placed sixth and eighth, respectively. Priest recorded a throw of 33.48 Meters (109' 10"), while Flusche recorded a personal record mark of 33.35 meters (109' 5").
 
Cali Barnes-Pierotti (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) posted a pair of seventh place finishes. She posted a personal record time of 1:26.34 in the 400-meter hurdles and cleared a distance of 9.11 meters (29' 10.75") in the triple jump.
 
Ciara Space () placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run crossing the line in 18:49.59, a new personal record. Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.67 meters (31' 8.75"). Ashton Carroll (Corning, Ohio/New Lexington) placed seventh in the pole vault clearing a personal record height of 2.76 meters (9' 0.5").
 
Marietta will compete at the All-Ohio Championships next Saturday (April 16) at Ohio Wesleyan University.
