ALLIANCE, Ohio — Marietta College recorded a pair of event wins at the Mount Union Jim Wuske Collegiate Invitational track meet Saturday (Feb. 5) afternoon. The brother-sister duo of
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) and
Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) won the men's and women's weight throws for the Pioneers.
Jake recorded a personal-best throw of 16.33 meters to win the men's event, while Annie took first place on the women's side with a mark of 16.28 meters. Both had good showings in the shot put as well with Annie placing second with a distance of 12.71 meters and Jake was fifth with a distance of 12.67 meters.
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) turned in a pair of top-five performances with a third place showing in the weight throw (14.34m) and a fourth-place finish in the shot put (11.09m).
Savannah Flusche (Blacklick, Ohio/) placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.28 meters.
Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) cleared 3.36 meters to place third in the women's pole vault, while
Alexis Pennell (Clearwater, Fla./East Canton (Ohio)) tied for sixth with a height of 3.06 meters.
Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) recorded a tenth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.58 meters.
In the women's running events, Ciara Space recorded a personal-best time in the mile run to place second. Space crossed the line in 5:31.53. In the 1000-meter run,
Mackenzie Moran (Tallmadge, Ohio/Tallmadge) was fifth with a time of 3:37.74.
Three other Pioneers recorded new personal bests in the meet. In the mile run,
Kaitlyn Gough (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) (6:14.55) and
Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) (6:08.10) both set a new personal record.
Haille Rogers (Apollo Beach, Fla./East Lake) set a new personal best with a time of 13:18.80 in the 3000-meter run.
The Pioneer men had a trio of third place showings.
Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) finished in 1:07.98 to take third in the 500-meter run.
Luke Watt (Rayland, Ohio/St. Clairsville) cleared 3.81 meters in the pole vault and MC's 4x400-meter relay team finished third with a time of 3:38.29.
Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) ran the lead leg followed by
Gabe Morrell (Portsmouth, Ohio/Northwest),
Zach Riffle (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) and Wilson.
Dominick Glenn (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) posted a pair of top-10 individual finishes. He was fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.17 seconds and took seventh in the 200-meter dash crossing the line in a personal-best 23.61 seconds.
Kieffer ran a 1:10.77 to finish fifth in the 500-meter run.
Darius Hatch (Mesa, Ariz./Mesa) placed ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.53 seconds. Hatch set a new personal best in the qualifying round with a time of 7.37 seconds.
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) and
Reese Worship (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) each had two top-10 showings. Painter took fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.60 meters and was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds.
Worship launched a personal best weight throw of 14.39 meters to finish fourth. He placed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 12.35 meters.
Other personal best performances included
Kenneth Amos (Akron, Ohio/Buchtel) (shot put), Riffle (800-meter run),
Nathan Ritchie (Fleming, Ohio/Warren Local) (3000-meter run) and
Raysean Stewart (Cleveland, Ohio/Brush) (shot put and weight throw).
Marietta will compete in the All-Ohio Championships next Saturday (Feb. 12) at Otterbein University. Events start at 11 a.m.
