WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday (Feb. 12) afternoon on the campus of Otterbein University. The Pioneers women tied for 12th, while the men tied for 19th.
Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) and Cali Baranes-Pierotti led the women with a pair of fourth-place finishes. Preist took fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.17 meters (53' 0.75") earning five team points. She also placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 12.02 meters (39' 5.25") for three more team points.
Barnes-Pierotti notched a personal record 1726 points in the pentathlon adding five more team points for the Pioneers. She recorded personal bests in three of the five events including the 60-meter hurdles (11.40 seconds), the 800-meter run (3:33.76) and the shot put (6.57 meters/21' 6.75"). Barnes-Pierotti also cleared 1.40 meters (4' 7.0") in the high jump and leaped 4.04 meters (13' 3.25") in the long jump.
Ciara Space () set a new personal best in the 3000-meter run placing fifth with a time of 10:44.04 and earning four team points.
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) grabbed two team points with a seventh place showing in the shot put with a personal record distance of 12.00 meters (39' 4.5").
Marietta's final two team points came from
Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) in the pole vault. She tied for sicth with a height of 3.29 meters (10' 9.5").
Emma Ferhman had a personal best in the 200-meter dash crossing the line in 28.66 seconds.
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) had the men's best finish placing ninth in the weight throw. Priest's best mark of the afternoon was 15.29 meters (50' 2.0").
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) placed tenth in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 8.85 seconds.
Dominick Glenn (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) was eleventh in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.15 seconds.
Marietta is back in action at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships being hosted by the University of Mount Union February 25-26.
