MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College women's rowing had two athletes named 2021 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes Wednesday (July 7) afternoon. Junior
Catherine Wadih (Cincinnati, Ohio/Clark Montessori) and sophomore
Rebecca Guhde (Signal Mountain, Tenn./Girls Prep) each earned the academic honor for the first time in their careers.
To be eligible for National Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must be in at least her second year of athletic eligibility and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher through the end of the fall 2020 semester.
Wadih and Guhde led the Pioneers' varsity 8+ crew to silver medals at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship and the 82nd annual Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta this spring. A Biology and Mathematics double major, Wadih rowed in the No. 7 seat, while Guhde handled the stroke responsibilities. Academically, Guhde is majoring in Environmental Science, Political Science and English.
The CRCA exists to unify collegiate women's rowing coaches, to act as a collective voice, and to inform collegiate women's rowing coaches on issues related to rowing.
The CRCA promotes women's rowing s a collegiate sport; serves as the voice of college rowing coaches in appropriate legislative arenas, in particular with the NCAA and its member conferences; serves as the primary advisor on collegiate women's rowing issues to the United States Rowing Association.
