CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts — The Marietta College women's rowing team closed out the fall racing schedule Sunday (Oct. 24) at the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Pioneers competed in the Women's Collegiate 8+ race and placed 27th out of 40 crews.
Mercyhurst won the collegiate eights with a time of 17:16.794. Wellesley finished in 17:19.578 to take second place, followed by Bates (17:22.050), WPI (17:38.077) and Tufts (17:41.805) in the top five.
The Pioneers crossed the line in 18:44.077, two seconds ahead of Ohio State and six seconds in front of Clemson.
Established in 1965, the Head of the Charles is the world's largest three-day rowing event. More than 11,000 athletes from around the world compete in the regatta's various events.
