MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College men's tennis lost an Ohio Athletic Conference match to Otterbein University by the score of 7-2 Tuesday (April 16) afternoon at the Beren Tennis Center.
Seniors
Andy Knauff (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) and
Taimur Ahmed (Islamabad, Pakistan/Froebels International) accounted for the Pioneers' two points. Knauff defeated Zach McDivitt at No. 4 singles, 6-2 and 7-6 (7-5). Ahmed downed Kevin Adell 7-6 (7-1), 4-6 and 10-6 at No. 5 singles.
Otterbein (11-5 overall, 4-2 OAC) opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. David Seckel and Will Willson posted an 8-5 win at No. 1 over
Alex Schaeffer (Louisville, Ohio/Marlington) and
Ashton Whiteleather (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg).
The No. 2 team of McDivitt and Ryan Shutt beat
Teddy Daub (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) and
Karl Grant (Elmhurst, Ill./York), 8-2. Knauff and
Tanner Sigman (Winfield, W.Va./Poca) fell at No. 3 doubles to Jacob DeVore and Andrew Sutter by the score of 8-6.
The Cardinals posted straight-set wins in the top three singles matches, as well as at No. 6, for the team victory.
