Women take third and men place fifth at OAC Outdoor Championship

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Junior #Ryan Householder (Frazeysburg/Tri-Valley)# was named the Harrison Dillard Most Outstanding Sprint Athlete as Marietta College's women placed third and men took fifth at the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday (April 30) on the campus of the University of Mount Union. The Pioneer women, keyed by 11 All-OAC performers, racked up 105 points to place third behind OAC Champion Mount Union (159) and runner-up Baldwin-Wallace College (147). Marietta's men had 13 All-OAC performers and finished with 84 points, which followed OAC Champion Mount Union (151), Baldwin-Wallace (126.50), Ohio Northern University (123) and Heidelberg University (99).

Householder, the second Marietta student-athlete in three years to be named Sprinter of the Meet at the OAC Outdoor Championship, captured first place in both the 100m and 200m dashes while also helping the team win the 4x100m relay and take second in the 4x400m relay. He posted winning times of 10.95 seconds in the 100m dash and 22.01 seconds in the 200m dash. Householder began the day by anchoring the 4x100m relay to victory after #Billy McCulloch (Nelsonville/York)#, #Anthony Williams (Columbus/Bishop Hartley)#, #Brandon Harrison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial)# and he crossed the line in 41.97 seconds and then closed the day by anchoring a second place finish in the 4x400m relay as #Chase Oberfield (Heath/Heath)#, Williams, Harrison and he covered the four laps in 3:19.52.

Williams also earned All-OAC honors in both of the short sprints. He took runner-up in the 200m dash with a personal record time of 22.14 seconds after placing third in the 100m dash with a time of 10.99 seconds.

Sophomore #Caleb Muller (Columbus/Bexley)# was the men's other All-OAC recipient. He ran a personal best 15:01.41 in the 5,000m race and finished second.

Freshman #Ryan Lopez-Jordan (Beachwood/St. Peter Chanel)# just missed earning All-OAC honors when he took fourth in the 110m hurdles by crossing the line a personal best 15.33 seconds. Junior #Terrance Wallace (Westerville/Westerville Central)# also ran a personal record 9:38.66 in the 3,000m steeplechase and placed sixth to earn points for the Pioneers.

Sophomore #Kristeva Rowe# became an OAC champion after she won the triple jump with a personal record mark of 11.30m (37-01.00). Marietta's women combined for 20 points in the event as junior #Ashley Bault (Atwater/Waterloo)# finished runner-up with a mark of 11.28m (37-00.25) and sophomore #Kim Keesler (Chagrin Falls/Chagrin Falls)# placed seventh with a personal best leap of 10.33m (33-10.75).

Bault earned All-OAC honors in a third jumping event of the weekend by placing runner-up in the high jump after clearing 1.62m (5-03.75). Rowe also contributed valuable points with a sixth place finish by posting a personal record mark of 1.54m (5-00.50).

Junior #Lauren Asbury (White Sulphur Springs, W.Va./Greenbrier East)# picked up All-OAC honors after taking third place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.78 seconds. Junior #Corryn Muench (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic)# followed in fourth with a time of 12.87 seconds, while Keesler placed eighth by crossing the line in 13.32 seconds. Asbury also added a fifth place finish in the 200m dash after posting a time of 26.67 seconds, while Muench earned All-OAC honors with a third place finish in the 400m hurdles after covering the lap in 1:05.66.

Muench, Asbury, Rowe and Keesler began their day on the track by taking runner-up to earn All-OAC recognition in the 4x100m relay. The team crossed the line in 48.92 seconds.

Freshman #Amy Kauffman (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area)# ran a personal record 4:45.99 in the 1,500m run and finished fifth.

Senior #Stephanie Hammond (Toledo/Central Catholic)# earned All-OAC honors with her runner-up finish in the hammer throw. Hammond posted a top toss of 43.78m (143-08).

Senior #Stephanie Williams (Vincent/Warren Local)# posted a personal record performance of 11:59.20 in the 3,000m steeplechase, while junior #Reba Leonard (Brookville/Brookville)# ran a personal best 18:27.22 to place sixth in the 5,000m run.

Muench, Kauffman, Rowe and sophomore #Lydia Tillmaand (Xenia/Xenia)# closed the women's competition with a fifth place finish in the 4x400m relay by posting a time of 4:08.27.
