MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College track and field opened its 2010-11 season Saturday (Dec. 4) afternoon when it competed at the Marietta First Glimpse Meet inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. Six Pioneers combined to win eight events at the non-scoring event. [

Junior standout #
Ashley Bault (Atwater/Waterloo)# took home first place in both the long jump and triple jump while taking runner-up in the high jump. Bault cleared 5.18m (17-00.00) in the long jump and 10.66m (34-11.75) in the triple jump before matching a school record with a leap of 1.61m (5-03.75) in the high jump.
Sophomore #
Gaston Hayes (Cleveland/Rhodes)# also won multiple events as he swept the weight throw and the hammer throw competitions. Hayes began the day with a personal record 14.59m (47-10.50) toss in the weight throw and then followed it up with a 12.74m (41-09.75) mark in the shot put.
Marietta swept the pole vault Saturday with freshmen taking the top spot in both the men's and women's standings. #
Jon Monnig (Ironton/Ironton)# won the men's event with a mark of 4.08m (13-04.50), while #
Megan Brooks (Proctorville/Fairland)# captured the women's event with a mark of 3.05m (10-00.00).
Junior #
Terrance Wallace (Westerville/Westerville Central)# won the men's 3,000m run with a personal record performance of 9:13.20.
Freshman #
Josh Martin (Live Oak, Fla./Suwannee)# also captured the long jump with a leap of 6.33m (20-09.25).
The Pioneers are back in action Jan. 14, 2010, when they host the Marietta Open #1.
