POUGHKEEPSI, N.Y. — The Marietta College volleyball team went 1-1 in a tri-match at Vassar College Saturday (Oct. 9) afternoon. The Pioneers began the day with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20) loss to the host Brewers before bouncing back to sweep New Jersey City University 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-18).
Junior right side hitter #
Meredith Storey (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls)# continued to carry the offensive load for the Pioneers (7-14) on Saturday, finishing with 12 kills against Vassar and 14 kills against New Jersey City.
Marietta's primary setters, sophomores #
Ally Jenkins (Twinsburg/Walsh Jesuit)# and #
Dana Miller (Frazeysburg/Tri-Valley)#, both had 10 assists in the first match. Jenkins also contributed 10 digs. Miller led the way in match two with 13 assists to go along with 11 digs, while Jenkins added seven assists.
Junior outside hitter #
Elizabeth Robbe (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park)# finished with a team-best four service aces against Vassar and then added eight kills against New Jersey City.
Sophomore libero #
Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls/Kenston)# compiled 26 total digs on the day, including 16 against the Gothic Knights. She also tied a season-high with seven service aces in the second match.
Marietta returns to Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday (Oct. 13) night when it visits Muskingum University at 7 p.m.
