WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Marietta College track & field team wrapped up its competition by setting a pair of relay records at the non-team scoring 2009 Wake Forest Open on Saturday (March 21).

The Pioneers' 4x400m Relay, which featured freshman Corryn Muench (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic), junior Christi Tims (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls), senior Jessi Larrison (Batavia) and senior Sheena Spencer (Marietta/Parkersburg), set a new school record after crossing the line in 3:58.20. The time was less than two seconds off the NCAA Championship Provisional Qualifying Standard.

Muench, Tims and Spencer teamed up with freshman Brittany Sims (Columbus/Eastmoor Academy) earlier in the day to break the school record in the 4x100m Relay. The foursome became the first relay team to break 50 seconds after finishing with a time of 49.97 seconds.

Freshman Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn)holder (Frazeysburg/Tri-Valley) had another noteworthy performance on Saturday as he became the fastest Pioneer to run the Men's 200m Dash since 1990 after covering the distance in 22.40 seconds.

In addition, freshman Reba Leonard (Brookville) ran a personal record in the Women's 3,000m Run, crossing the line in 11:19.51. Junior Cody Thomas (North Olmsted) set a personal record in the Men's 1,500m Run. He finished with a time of 4:04.10. Three Pioneers ran personal records in the Men's 3,000m Run. Junior Mike Siringer (Willowick/Willoughby South) finished in 9:10.14, freshman Terrance Wallace (Columbus/Westerville Central) finished in 9:20.11 and junior Louie D'Amico (Shadyside) finished in 9:57.84.

"Our women's sprints and men's distance had a very good outing, Head Coach Derek Stanley said. "Our relays ran well being early but left room for technical improvement."

Marietta returns to action on Saturday (March 28) when Baldwin-Wallace College hosts five Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) schools for the OAC Gold Meet.
