BEREA, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team overcame a first-set loss to defeat host Baldwin-Wallace College 3-1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 26-24) in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday (Oct. 17) afternoon. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 16-8 overall and 3-3 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets fell to 3-22, 0-5 in the OAC. [Box Score]

Marietta sophomore Ally Jenkins (Twinsburg, Walsh Jesuit) dished out 0 of the team's 45 assists in the victory, which tied last year's win total and kept the squad in the upper half of the OAC standings with 3 matches league remaining. Jenkin's top weapons were her outside hitters as freshman Amanda Sawicki (Mentor, Lake Catholic) finished with a match-best 17 kills and sophomore Alex Weissling (Dublin, Dublin Scioto) added 14 kills to go along with 3 service aces.

Senior libero Becca Holzworth (North Olmsted, North Olmsted), the Pioneers' all-time leader in digs, paced the defense with 32 digs against the Yellow Jackets. Weissling also contributed 18 digs, while freshman outside hitter Jen Braun (Chagrin Falls, Kenston) contributed 8 digs. Marietta's front line produced 9 total blocks and were keyed by sophomore right side hitter Meredith Storey (Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Falls) who finished with 5 block assists.

Marietta continues its OAC slate on Tuesday (Oct. 20) night when the Pioneers take on visiting Capital University at 7 p.m. The Pioneers and the Crusaders will be teaming up to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness with its Dig Pink Night. Donations will be taken at the door and the first 225 people through the door will receive a free Dig Pink T-shirt.
