Junior point guard Tyler Hammond (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) was named the Most Valuable Player of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament after leading the Pioneers to the 2013 crown. Hammond averaged 25.0 points in Marietta’s two tournament games. He scored a career-high 27 in the Pioneers’ triple overtime victory over Wilmington and then added a game-high 23 points in the championship game against Mount Union. Heading into the NCAA Tournament, Hammond is second on the team in scoring averaging 11.0 points per game.
