WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College junior striker Zach Kern (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday (Sept. 8) afternoon by the league office. Kern earned his first ever OAC weekly award after a week that saw him score three goals.
 
The Pioneers opened the season with three games last week, going 2-0-1 during the stretch. In the season opener against Geneva, Kern scored the game-tying goal and Marietta went on to win 2-1.  On Sunday, with the Pioneers trailing 2-0, Kern provided a pair of scores to level the match against Piedmont.  The Pioneers would go on to score the tiebreaker and win the contest 3-2.
 
Marietta will hit the road for a pair of games this week. The Pioneers play at Franciscan on Wednesday (Sept. 9) with a scheduled start time of 7 p.m.  The Pioneers will then travel to Mount St. Joseph University this Saturday (Sept. 12) for a 4 p.m. matchup.
