MARIETTA, Ohio — Kenyon College scored three first half goals as the Owls defeated Marietta College, 3-0, Wednesday (Sept. 16) evening in men's soccer action. The loss drops Marietta to 2-2-1 overall. Kenyon improves to 5-1-0.
"Kenyon is very good and they showed just how good they are in the first 25 minutes. It was a wakeup call for us," Marietta head coach
Joe Bergin said. "Having said that, I am very proud of the boys for their effort after the trio of goals. It would have been easy to roll over and give up five more. We didn't and that is something to build upon."
Kenyon got on the board in the 12th minute on a goal from Kevin Farina. Grant Blake assisted on the goal. Emmett Brown found the back of the net with an assist from Lucas De Alarcon in the 18th minute.
The Owls' final goal came in the 24th minute when Hayato Ishii took a pass from De Alarcon and put the ball in the back of the net.
Marietta plays at John Carroll University on Saturday (Sept. 19) at 2:00 p.m.
