WORCESTER, Mass. — The Marietta College men's rowing team was on the water facing a field of nationally ranked opponents for the second straight day Sunday (Apr. 19) in the Baker Cup hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Lake Quinsigamond.
Today's competition included No. 3 ranked Williams, No. 4 Tufts, and No. 10 WPI. Tufts and Williams were first and second in the varsity 8+ race and then swapped places in the second varsity 8+ race. Marietta was third and WPI fourth in both races.
"We had some decent racing this morning," Marietta head coach
Greg Myhr said. "Tufts and Williams demonstrated why their rankings are accurate. We didn't match their speed, but we were able to hold off a determined WPI looking to turn the tables on us from yesterday. They are fast, but we got it done."
Marietta is off until the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship on Saturday (May 2) in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
