WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College sophomore
Emma Cozza (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville Broadview Heights) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week Monday (Mar. 16) afternoon by the league office. This is the first weekly award for the Pioneer pitcher.
Cozza helped the Pioneers to an 8-4 record during their Spring Break trip in Florida last week. She appeared in five games, compiling a 3-0 record and 1.43 earned run average during the span.
In her lone start of the week, Cozza tossed five innings against Saint Mary's College, scattering five hits and giving up only two runs. She also shut the door on Monmouth College, pitching the final two innings without giving up a run to earn the victory. She worked the final two scoreless innings against St. Catherine University to seal the victory for the Pioneers.
Marietta begins the OAC schedule at home on Saturday (Mar. 21) for a doubleheader. The Pioneers will battle Otterbein University with first pitch scheduled at 1 p.m.
