WESTERVILLE, Ohio — For the second time this season, Marietta College sophomore point guard
Kelsey Harlan (Sardis, Ohio/River) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement Monday (Jan. 12) afternoon.
Harlan led the Pioneers in scoring for both games during the week. Against Mount Union, she scored 21 points, dished out seven assists, collected seven steals, and nailed the game-tying three pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, leading Marietta to a 76-70 road victory.
In Marietta's victory over Heidelberg on Saturday, Harlan added 19 points in just 14 minutes of playing time. Harlan went 7-of-8 from the field but got to rest much of the second half as the Pioneers took control of the game early against the Student Princes.
For the week, Harlan averaged 20 points and 5.0 assists, while shooting 50 percent from the floor (13-of-26).
Harlan currently leads the team in scoring this season as she is averaging 14.5 points per game, placing her second in the OAC.
Marietta is off until this Saturday (Jan. 17) when they host Ohio Northern University. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m. in Ban Johnson Arena, following the 1:00 p.m. men's game.
