FAIRBORN, Ohio — Marietta College raced in the Mike Baumler Cross Country Classic Friday (Sept. 5) evening. Hosted by Wright State University on the 5,000-meter Fairborn Community Lower Park course, both the Pioneer men and women finished eleventh in the team standings.
Butler won the men's team title with 21 points. Ohio State was second with 34 points, followed by Wright State (120 points), Cedarville (126), Ashland (127), Malone (157), Northern Kentucky (159), Ohio State Running Club (243), Cincinnatus Elite (244), Capital (265), Marietta (349), UC Running Club (375), and Central State (388).
Butler's Brendan Thomas won the individual crown with a winning time of 14:33.3.
Charles Putnam (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) led the Pioneers finishing in 16:23.2.
Kevin Hernandez (Plymouth, Ohio/Willard) (16:33.1) was close behind Putnam.

Ohio State won the team title in the women's race with 18 points. Butler was second with 50 points, followed by Northern Kentucky (99), Ashland (110), Wright State (145), Malone (174), Raider XC Alumni (191), Ohio State Running Club (196), Capital (249), UC Running Club (327), and Marietta (328).
Mackenna Curtis-Collins, who ran unattached, posted a time of 17:12.0 to win the women's race.
Audrey Helmick (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) was Marietta's top finished posting a time of 20:06.4, followed by
Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) (23:21.7),
Katelyn South (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) (23:31.0),
Leilani Navarro (Mineral Wells, W.Va./Wood County Christian School) (25:25.0), and
Rami Padilla (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) (28:49.0).
Marietta is back in action next Friday (Sept. 12) at the Commodore Invitational hosted by Lorain County Community College. Racing starts at 4:00 p.m.
