WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Two Pioneers were recognized as Ohio Athletic Conference Players of the Week Monday (Sept. 15) afternoon by the conference office. Vonte' Hodges put together a career-high rushing performance to earn him the OAC Offensive Player of the Week and senior linebacker
Harley Hopkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) was named OAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Hodges finished with 16 carries for 306 yards and three touchdowns, including runs of 64 yards, 65 yards, and 66 yards. The senior averaged nearly 20 yards per carry in Marietta's 47-31 win over Otterbein. This is the second time in his career that he claimed the weekly award.
Hopkins led the Pioneer defense with 15 tackles (five solo and 10 assisted) and forced a fumble, leading him to his fourth time winning the weekly award.
The Pioneer football team returns to action this Saturday (Sept. 20). They will travel to battle OAC foe Capital with a schedule 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
