MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College running back
Vante' Hodges (Horn Lake, Miss./Horn Lake) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week Tuesday (Sept. 16) morning after leading the Pioneers to a 47-31 win over Otterbein University last weekend.
Hodges had a career day rushing the football amassing 306 yards on just 16 carries for an average of 19.1 yards per carry. Hodges got the Pioneers on the board with a 65-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Otterbein had no answer for Hodges. The senior scampered for a 66-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Pioneers took 27-17 lead into halftime. Hodges put the game away with his third 60-plus yard run when he scored from 64-yards out midway through the fourth quarter.
Hodges earned Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance. He currently leads the OAC in rushing averaging 238.5 yards per game after posting 171 yards on the ground in Marietta's season-opening win at Westminster.
Marietta is off this week and then travels to Capital University on Saturday (Sept. 27). Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
