5/6/2025 12:32:00 PM

WEST WINDSOR, New Jersey — The Marietta College men's rowing team finished third in the overall points standings at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships on Sunday (May 4). The Pioneers entered four boats in the Championship and came away with three medals.

Bucknell won the overall points trophy with 78 points. Lehigh finished second with 69 points, followed by Marietta (66 points), George Washington (65), MSOE (48), Villanova (41), St. Mary's (40), Catholic (39), Washington College (33), Franklin and Marshall (25), and Stockton (4).

"We knew the top teams at the MARC would be really fast and we're grateful to have the chance to try to match up and feel very fortunate we were able to win the AQ," Marietta head coach Greg Myhr said. "That's huge for our squad. For this year and also for our development in future years."

The varsity 8+ crew finished fourth overall in the grand final, but as the fastest Division III crew, the Pioneers earned the automatic qualifying bid into the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship May 31-June 1.

"We're excited to be the first squad from Marietta to qualify a full team to the IRA in the qualification era," Myhr said. "The IRA was an open regatta prior to 2008 when it became recognized as the official national championship for men's rowing."
