Box Score LEWIS CENTER, Ohio — The Marietta College softball team ended its season with a 10-9 win over Capital University Sunday (May 4) afternoon at Olentangy Orange High School. The second game of the doubleheader was rained out.

Marietta finishes the season with a 20-15-1 overall record and 6-10 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Capital finishes 13-22 overall and 6-11 in the OAC.

Four Pioneers finished their playing careers in the Navy Blue and White. Fifth-year first baseman Rachel Kazmirski (Colliers, W.Va./Brooke), outfielder Taylor Airy (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman), infielder Jordan Cholley (North Canton, Ohio/Glenoak), and pitcher Amelia Timko (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) all wrapped up their Marietta College careers.

Marietta grabbed the early lead with a pair of first inning home runs. Kazmirski smacked a two-run shot to center and Adisson Heath (Weston, W.Va./Lewis County) launched a solo shot to left center.

Capital answered with four runs in the bottom of the second. Reagan Irons lined a two-run single to right center, Kyleigh Kirby had an RBI triple and later scored on a stolen base.

The Pioneers scored seven runs over the next four inning building a 10-4 lead. Kazmirski drove in two more runs with a single in the fourth. Camryn Kiefer (Massillon, Ohio/Tuslaw) plated a run in the fourth with a ground ball in the infield and another in the fifth with a sac fly. A sac fly from Airy in the sixth scored MC's tenth run of the game.

Marietta would need all 10 runs as the Comets scored four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Capital had two runners on base when the game ended.

Kiefer (14-7) got the win in relief of Timko. Timko pitched 1.2 innings and allowed three runs on three hits. Kiefer tossed 4.1 innings and gave up five runs on 10 hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Candace Walter notched her second save of the season throwing the final inning and allowing one run on two hits.

Alyssa Miller started for the Comets and gave up four runs on four hits with five walks and four strikeouts. Addi Parker (3-6) took the loss allowing six runs on three hits with four walks and one strikeout in 2.1 innings of work.

Kazmirski finished 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four runs batted in, and two runs scored. Heath had the solo home run and Kiefer had two RBI.

Marietta led the second game, 6-1, in the bottom of the first inning when it was stopped due to the weather.
