WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College won both the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week awards after an historic undefeated run of games in Florida during Spring Break. Sophomore
Liz White (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) was named Hitter of the Week and freshman
Camryn Kiefer (Massillon, Ohio/Tuslaw) was awarded Pitcher of the Week Monday (Mar. 17) afternoon by the league office.
White started all 10 games in Florida and hit safely in every game, including four games with three hits. White batted .633 (19-of-30) with five doubles, nine RBI, and 14 runs scored. She slugged .800 and had an .732 on base average with 10 walks, a hit by pitch, and did not strike out.
Kiefer pitched in eight games and started in three. She gave up 12 hits and one run in 29.2 innings, walking only three and striking out 29 batters. In her three starts, Kiefer did not allow a run. For the week, opponents batted .119 against her. She threw a complete game four-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts against Wisconsin Lutheran and faced one batter over the minimum in a one-hit complete game shutout over Wheaton (Ill.) striking out seven.
The Pioneers swept all 10 games during the week and has a 10-0 record for the first time in program history. They next play this weekend as they host the BSN Sports Softball Classic at Marietta Field. Marietta will battle Penn State Behrend this Saturday (March 22) with the first pitch scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
