MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men's rowing team hosted Temple University, the University of Wisconsin and Mercyhurst University for a series of dual races Saturday (Mar. 23) on the Muskingum River.
In the morning session, Temple beat Marietta in varsity 8+ race finishing with open water on the Pioneers. Temple posted a winning time of 5:40.1 with Marietta crossing the line in 5:53.9. The Pioneers finished second to Wisconsin in the afternoon. Wisconsin finished in 5:35.8 with Marietta recording a time of 5:49.8.
In the second varsity 8+ races, Temple (5:49.0) bested the Pioneers (5:59.2). Marietta finished third against Wisconsin. The Badger 2V won the race with a time of 5:45.1, followed by Wisconsin 3V (5:55.2), Marietta (6:02.2), and Wisconsin 4V (6:17.7).
Temple defeated Marietta in the varsity 4+ morning race. Temple crossed the line in 6:33.1 with the Pioneers finishing in 6:37.9. Temple B was third with a time of 6:41.6. Against Wisconsin, the Pioneers placed second out of three crews. Wisconsin won with a time of 6:29.8, followed by Marietta (6:33.8), and Wisconsin B (6:38.9).
Marietta travels to Ithaca College next Saturday (Mar. 30) to compete in the Ithaca Duals.
