Cross Country sets several personal records at the JennaStrong Fall Classic

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's cross country teams both finish 14th at the JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College Friday (Oct. 18) evening.
 
Ceadrville won the men's team title with 45 total points. Franciscan took second place with 126 points, followed by Wittenberg (138), Kenyon (143), Wilmington (162), Hanover (184), Wooster (191), Thomas More (200), Heidelberg (205), Capital (241), Northern Kentucky (312), Anderson (353), Muskingum (365), Marietta (369), Berea (410), Bluffton (412), Transylvania (418), Shawnee State (477), Pikeville (526), Earlham (580), and Wilberforce (719).
 
Wilmington's Noah Tobin won the men's individual title finished the 8,000-meter course in 24:26.9, 23 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Charles Putnam (Marietta, Ohio/) was the first Pioneer across the finish line. Putnam placed 13th with a time of 26:00.2.
 
Franko Rome (Cambridge, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) was one of the Pioneer men to set new personal records at the 8K distance. Rome crossed the line in 28:18.7, followed by Aiden Westerman (Vincent, Ohio/Warren Local) (28:37.0), Kevin Hernandez (Plymouth, Ohio/Willard) (29:29.9), Jack Hehr (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) (29:58.4), Matthew Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) (31:19.3), and Cameron Logue (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) (32:24.9).
 
Westerman and Fehrman were the other two Pioneers who set a personal best time in the race.
 
Wittenberg claimed the women's team title with 65 total points, just one point better than Franciscan. Thomas More took third with 141 points, followed by Northern Kentucky (149), Hanover (153), Berea (176), Kenyon (179), Wooster (199), Transylvania (204), Muskingum (235), Heidelberg (307), Capital (321), Wilmington (374), Marietta (382), Anderson (386), and Pikeville (555).
 
Wilimington's Faith Duncan earned the individual title with a time of 16:42.6 on the 5,000-meter course. The first four Pioneers across the finish line all set personal records at the 5K distance.
 
Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) placed 29th with a time of 19:56.3, followed by Audrey Helmick (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) (21:44.7), Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) (23:26.3), and Rami Padilla (St. Clairsville, Ohio/) (23:44.3).
 
The rest of the Marietta lineup included Mackenzie Moran (Tallmadge, Ohio/Tallmadge) (23:53.5), Hope Adams (Delaware, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) (26:04.4), and Katlynn Wald (Parma, Ohio/Normandy) (26:30.7).
 
Up next for the Pioneers is the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday (Nov. ) at Heidelberg.
