WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College junior
Rachel Kazmirski (Colliers, W.Va./Brooke) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week Monday (Apr. 3) afternoon by the league office. This is the second time this year and the third time in her career she has received the weekly honor.
The Pioneers went undefeated (4-0) on the week, thanks to Kazmirski's offensive output. She hit a team-leading .667 for the week collecting 10 hits in 15 at bats. In Marietta's doubleheader sweep of Denison, Kazmirski went 5-for-8 with a double, home run, and two runs batted in. In game two of their conference opening doubleheader against Ohio Northern, Kazmirski went 4-for-4 with three doubles, tying a school record.
She leads the Pioneers with seven doubles, seven home runs and 26 runs batted in. She also leads the team in batting average (.564), slugging percentage (1.073), and on base average (.576).
In addition to her impressive offensive numbers, Kazmirski pitched in three of those games. She appeared in 4.2 innings, striking out four, and not allowing a single run.
Marietta travels to Mount Union on Tuesday (Apr. 4) for a conference doubleheader with a first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
