Kazmirski added to the NFCA Player/Pitcher of the Year watch list

MARIETTA, Ohio — After a successful start to the 2023 season, Marietta College softball player Rachel Kazmirski (Colliers, W.Va./Brooke) has been added to the Tucci/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III watch list for Player & Pitcher of the Year.  Currently, the Pioneer junior leads the Ohio Athletic Conference in every triple crown category.

Kazmirski came into this season with high expectation as she was named All-OAC second team in 2022.  This season, she currently leads the OAC with eight home runs, 31 runs batted in, and a .542 batting average.   Those numbers have helped her earn OAC Hitter of the Week honors on two separate occasions this season.

"Rachel has had a strong start to the season and it's great to see her hard work paying off," said Marietta Head Softball Coach Jenn Castle.  "She is relentless on the field and I'm proud to see her drawing some attention in a very competitive region. She is someone I can rely on day in and day out and it is always special to have someone like that on your roster."

The Player of the Year award was created in 2016 to honor the outstanding softball achievement in NCAA Division III. In 2019, the Association expanded the award to include separate Player and Pitcher of the Year honors.  New to this season, the list was broken into 10 regions.  Marietta falls within Region VII.

This list is compiled by the elected members of the NFCA Division III All-America Committee, who will also vote to choose the Player and Pitcher of the Year honorees at the conclusion of the season.  This year's recipients will be announced on June 9.

Marietta plays at Otterbein University on Wednesday (April 12) at 3:00 p.m.
