WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College junior
Rachel Kazmirski (Colliers, W.Va./Brooke) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week Monday (March 13) afternoon by the league office. This is the second time in her career she has received the weekly honor.
Kazmirski helped lead the Pioneers to a 5-5 week on their annual spring trip to Florida. The junior utility player started all 10 games while spending time at first base, outfield, designated hitter and pitcher.
Kazmirski hit a team-leading .563 for the week collecting 18 hits in 32 at bats. She leads the Pioneers with three doubles, three home runs and 16 runs batted in. Her .938 slugging percentage and .571 on base average also are tops on the team.
In Marietta's 8-7 come from behind win over Carnegie Mellon, Kazmirski went 3-for-4 with seven runs batted in, including a grand slam home run that turned a 6-4 deficit into and 8-6 Pioneer lead. Kazmirski posted six multiple-hits games in the Florida sunshine.
In addition to her impressive offensive numbers, Kazmirski was 1-1 with a 2.80 earned run average and one save in the circle. She struck out nine opposing hitters in 10 innings pitched.
Marietta opens at home on Sunday, March 26 when Wittenberg University visits for a 1:00 p.m. nonconference doubleheader.
