ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marietta College women's golf team placed eighth at the Mount Union Fall Invitational golf tournament Sunday (Sept. 11) afternoon. The tournament was played on the par-72 Tannenhauf Golf Club.
Notre Dame College won the team title with a score of 337. Malone (339) placed second two shots behind and Mount Union (347) finished third. The rest of the field included Baldwin Wallace (356), Heidelberg (367), Muskingum (376), John Carroll (376), Marietta (402) and Ursuline (431).
Mount Union's Mattie Muckleroy won medalist honors with a 4-over-par 76, five shots ahead of the runner-up, Erin Frey from Notre Dame College.
Helena Immel (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Garaway) led the Pioneers with a score of 92, good for a tie for 23rd.
Shelby Byland (Coshocton, Ohio/River View) placed 32nd with a score of 98. The remainder of Marietta's lineup all carded a score of 106 to finish in a tie for 42nd. That included
Melanie Gibson (Newcomerstown, Ohio/Newcomerstown),
Ava Huebner (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) and
Evie Gravlin (Columbus, Ohio/New Albany).
The Pioneers are back in action on Monday (Sept. 12) at the Grove City Invitational.
