PRINCETON, New Jersey — The Marietta College men's rowing team concluded the 2022 racing season at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Mercer Lake Saturday (June 4) morning.
 
The Pioneer Navy entered crews in the varsity heavyweight 4+ and the lightweight 4+ divisions. Both fours participated in a morning time trial on Friday and then afternoon semifinals.
 
Marietta's heavyweight four placed 20th out of 25 crews in the time trial slotting the Navy Blue and White into the D/E semifinals. In the semifinal, the Pioneers finished second behind Drexel earning a spot in Saturday's fourth level final.
 
Marietta won the fourth level final with a time of 6:48.635, beating Penn to the line by just under one second in a tight race. The Pioneers also avenged the semifinal loss to Drexel as they placed third in the final. Cornell was fourth, followed by Tufts, catholic and Marist.
 
The Pioneer lightweight four placed fifth in the Friday time trials earning a spot in the A/B semifinal. Marietta placed second to Harvard in the semi advancing into today's Grand Final.
 
Navy won the Grand Final with a time of 6:23.423, over two seconds ahead of second place Harvard (6:25.873). Dartmouth was third, followed by Columbia, Marietta and Cornell.
