Olivia Gribble (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's basketball Player of the Week Monday (Jan. 3) afternoon by the league office. This is the second straight week a Pioneer has received the honor after
Devin Hefner (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South) was the final winner of 2021.
Gribble led the Pioneers to a pair of wins in last weeks 36th annual Jim Meagle Holiday Classic. The sophomore guard was named the Lisa Wagner Most Valuable Player after averaging 13.5 points in the two victories.
Gribble led all scorers with 19 points in the win over Carnegie Mellon. She hit 7-of-12 shots from the floor, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.
For the season, Gribble is Marietta's leading scorer averaging 9.0 points per game. She leads the team with 22 three-pointers and ranks among the team leaders in total field goals and blocked shots.
Marietta is currently 10-1 on the season and 3-1 in the OAC. The Pioneers host rival Muskingum University on Wednesday (Jan. 5) at 7 p.m.
